Synchronous satellites of venus

چکیده
Synchronous satellites of Venus have long been thought unstable, but we use Poincare's surface section technique to show that synchronous quasi-satellites orbiting just outside Venus' Hill sphere are quite stable, at least for centuries. Such synchrosats always remain within a few degrees equator, and drift very slowly in longitude. These could be useful continuous monitoring points on surface, such as active landforms or long-lived landers.

A survey for satellites of Venus
We present a systematic survey for satellites of Venus using the BaadeMagellan 6.5 meter telescope and IMACS wide-field CCD imager at Las Campanas observatory in Chile. In the outer portions of the Hill sphere the search was sensitive to a limiting red magnitude of about 20.4, which corresponds to satellites with radii of a few hundred meters when assuming an albedo of 0.1. In the very inner po...

VENUS: A VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT NETWORK USING SATELLITES Sanjay K. Udani Jonathan M. Smith & David J. Farber Network access has evolved from basic text-only terminals to color graphical browsers with full-motion video capability. متن کاملSpatial and Temporal Patterns of Tidal Dissipation in Synchronous Satellites
Introduction: Tidal heating is an important energy source for several solar system bodies, and there is a wide-spread perception that the pattern of surface heat flow is diagnostic of internal structure. We wish to clarify that situation. Our analysis depends upon two important assumptions: First, that heat transport is dominated by conduction. Second, that the body can be modeled by a sequence...
